Default Price Check- 86 23'

So, I came across a not quite yet abandoned boat the owner was planning on saving for his kids. They are now older than I am and are not biting on the boat. He just got a new 30' Grady, and has free storage on this one. He has essentially no drive to get rid of it but noted that he wants to see someone get it back on the water. It has an old, frozen up evinrude, outdated electronics, some soft spots in the deck but for the most part is still a good ride.

I am pretty much in it for the hull (and radar arch) only, I already have a trailer, would update power anyway and would splurge on gps/radar.

Here the pictures you all really care about... What do we think its worth?

Default Cost

I am using a 2007 ABOS pricing guide...(most of the dealers around here use this).

Keep in mind that this is with a running motor...and this program in now 4 model years old.

See attachment.

Not a Tracker until '87. This would be a SeaCraft Industries hull if it really is an '86.

As it sits, I'd say $3500 max if the engine is locked up. How long has it sat uncovered? Although there may not be any structural issues due to it sitting uncovered, if it has sat in Mass. winters like that for many years that is a bargaining chip on your end.

Tell him the motor will have rust on the bearings , but that he could part it out for 1500 easy and that you will repower. Tell him he can sell the trailer for 800. Tell him he can sell the radar for 500 and electronics for such n such. Give his perceived value back to him and get what you want it for. How is the transom? Any flex? Get a pro quote for the floor and transom if necessary. Add new tank and wiring. This sounds like emotion to me. Help him let go. Tell him all of your dreams and plans for it. Build the time, love, and money it will take to acheive your dream.

Cheers,
GFS

Probably worth $3500 - $4500 around here . . . depending on what condition the trailer, transom, fuel tank. You won't find a 23 SeaCraft Center Console (without power) going for any less than that in New England . . . just doesn't happen unless it's a big project. That's a good starting point for anyone.

Prime example, there is a mid 70's 23 SF with 1980's 225's and a bonus
tower of power 115 on CL for $9500 here in Daytona....
The motors are junk, the trailer is junk, the 115 is junk and the console
needs work..

I even emailed the owner to tell him GOOD LUCK!!!!

I had seen the boat a while back and it had not moved in probably 10+
years!

We all love our beloved SeaCrafts, but the value today is not like owning
a Rembrant!

Any project 23 is going to be either be FREE or around $2000 to $3000

Just my 2¢ worth.

That is exactly it, but people think they are sitting on gold because its 'an old seacraft'. Dosnt matter if the deck is rotten out of it and its unsafe!
