Default Erik's Boat

Friends...it's not a Seacraft, but I love it. She's a 24' 1987 Columbia II Sea Skiff with a Chrysler 318 inboard. I found her on Long Island (not across the street ) and she ran me $4000. The previous owner is cleaning it, bottom painting it and dropping it in the water for me, so I can cruise to my slip (which is almost across the street ).
She was made on Long Island at Hamptons Shipyards in East Quogue. These boats have great reputations and she is a beast. 8'6'' beam, cabin, sink, head...alotta boat. The best part is I brought my 2 year old son with me to buy it. He was checking out the deck, cabin and of course, the captain's chair! He had fun and that's what it's all about!

I really appreciate all of the help you guys gave me. I've been telling my family and friends about you guys. I learned a lot about Seacraft and motors. I'll hang around and keep you updated. Thanks again!

Erik,
Congats and welcome to the family, albeit as a stepson. The knowledge base here is second to none and is cheerfully shared, enjoy.

There are many limited/local editions that have appeared and passed that do not have the national success to continue their existance. Heck, even Seacraft is at a fork in the road (or should I say in the EXECUTIVE WASHROOM), however, many of us will be damned to allow it to fade without a fight!

Keep the posts and pictures coming. The fun thing about learning something new is realizing how much we all have to learn!

Thanks Lew! I'll advise!!! Seacraft can't fade, as long as you guys are around. Hamptons Shipyards is still around too!

Congrats Erik!
She'll be a nice family boat. Stable, spacious and no doubt that 2 y.o will find storage you were unaware of - keep an eye on the little bugger. The 318 is a gas guzzler but she'll be chuggin' in style.

'tis long been my dream to have a slip across the street you lucky dog! Love the lapstrake look. WTG. Got yourself a classic Columbia.

Next time you see Kenny's Seafari just chuckle like you sent a shot across his bow and pull up a nice fluke for dinner . Enjoy.

Lovely boat, and practical for a family too. Very different approach than a Seacraft, but should work well for you.

I'd like to see some more pics.

McGillicuddy- she is sturdy and the space is great. My son Erik gave it the final check and approval! And yeah...he'll find stuff...that's why I automatically walked away from a few boats...there was too much potential for my son to get hurt. And supposedly the gas mileage is not that bad , but I'll take it! The slip is "almost" across the street...a few blocks over, but very close. As for Kenny, I wish him the best...nice boat, but the price wasn't right. Fluke dinner...nice!

Cdavis...I'll post more pics soon.

fd-Port Jeff sounds good. There's a nice cigar shop there.

Looks good and will extend your time on the water vs a center console style rig with you being in the NE.
When I had my 20ft shamrock I thought the kids would use the cabin more but they never did and it ended up being storage.

They love being out in the open and the center console works best for me but I live in FL.

Good luck with it, the kid will have a blast on the water.
I am glad I was fortunate enough to have a boat with the kids at a young age.

CT9...I love the fact that I'm able to get my son out on the water with me. Can't wait.
