Default So my repair job begins!

well after i have finaly gotten past the how could this happen? im into the project. what i found was that the past owner either got ripped off himself or realy stuck it to me! so we begin. got the motor off and started cuting and digging. looks like some one replaced less than half the wood and added marine bondo.

Default only actual amount of good wood!

that peice on the ground was the only peice of would in the transom that had been replaced. the rest was like muddy clay and full of ants! still have to dig more out and start grinding. been getting home late so i hope to get more done this weekend.

That really sucks what/how it happened but look on the bright side in a month you will have a new transom and be at Elliott Key with a Corona and all will be good again.

I like the equipment used to remove the engine....LOL

Thanks Jorge, we use what we have at our disposal! if this transom was made of a caterpiller engine i would be done. as its more like carpentry/bodyshop i guess i may be a little more delayed!

nice job with the crane. was looking around town to get one of those to help remove my inboard, ended up going with an older tow truck with a boom in the back, much shorter but still worked. im in the process of ripping out my transom as well, its a PIA. good luck

WOW!!! what a pain in the A$$ to get this rotton wood out! i will never wonder why this work is so expensive again. family obligations done finaly and ive been at it a couple hours today. the wood might have been bad in the middle but the glassed side deffinetly isnt going down without a fight. Lol on a good note i did pick up a stainless marine bracket this weekend at a good price. looking forward to getting past the tear down and on to the build.

A lot of people doing this job have used a electric chain saw to get most of it out

I got mine at home depot garden section
