Default oil tank placement

right now I premix the oil in the fuel tank as the oil pump dosent work. were the oil tank was I built a small bait tank under the stern hatch,

the floor bait tank id like to seal off and install a water tight hatch lid. if I ever install a new motor id like to install the oil tank in the old bait tank under the floor ,. is there any reason this wouldn't work?being too low?

The oil take for my contender is in the bilge area and has been fine.
Definitely lower than the engine.

The Yamaha tanks have a carbon steel "mount" that rusts easily. There are SS available though. They also have a small, inline filter close to the bottom that's easy to change but needs to be accessible. I had one clog once and manually refilled the engine tank to get home

My merc 150 is spec'd with 1.5 gallon tank and works perfectly. It's a positive pressure system, height is irrelevant.

Yamaha #646-24251-02-00 strainer. #21 You'll have to search THT for the SS tank strap. Yamaha wants $150 for theirs.

I found a place that makes the stainless tank mount for 119. How often should that oil tank filter be changed?
