I have 225 merc efi 20" shaft that will soon need to be extended to 25". I am finding prices for about $1000, has anyone purchased one recently, if so is this going rate. Also how difficult to install? Thanks, Jay

I run one on my merc to make a 25" shaft = 30" . . . it's not a 225, but the kit is similar. Call Bay Manufacturing.

I have a Bay Mfg on my Yamaha.
That is about right on the cost.

Bay manufacturing as stated. I put an extension on my 115 merc for about $500

The only other thing you can do is find someone with a blown 25" and buy the mid section and drive shaft or lower unit. You can also get the Mid section and add a 5" shaft extension if you don't want to go into your lower unit to change the shafts out to a longer one. Lots of guys here use that bay kit and like it. I never used on. I got a guy with a merc. grave yard to get parts from and can get the parts for less. But you will find that the bay kit maybe cheaper unless you can find the other parts for a good deal.

It's the pic . . . This motor is almost level bottom raised to the highest bolt holes. See how high the motor is raised @30" size. In the 25" config it's about 2" up. I have 4 black engines

I bought a 1999 225 30" optimax and converted it to 25". Will the 5" setup I have work on your EFI?
