As a carpetbagger, summah always killed me here. I feel 10 degrees cooler with these shirts. I am moving all my fishin` to dry fits.

I am stuck wearing FR clothes as well, The patches on the shirts rubmy nipples raw so I have to wear an under shit under the long sleeve FR thick shirt. They get wet quick. Good thing is that I don't wash them in my units. I do all my fiberglass grinding in them and send them to the uniform shop to be washed. Let them get their units clogged up with fibers not mine. They always come back with out trace of fibers and zero itch, my unit at home will not do this but just spread it to the other clothing.

Hopefully you have the option to wear FRC instead of Nomex. The later is much harder on you than the FRC. Me and my guys more than often have to go with Nomex in the Petrochem industry. Which can get very hot in Houston and gulf coast this time of year, especially in a running plant.

I can remember growing up in Alabama with no AC. Two story house, attic fan on all night, and you did not go upstairs in the afternoon. It was OK, almost all the time.

turkey point early 80's had to set limit sw's on the reactor head in full PC'S and forced air - Plastic rainsuit taped over the heavy cotton jump suit and a bubble hood taped down to the rain suit completly sealing it up from contamination. inside the containment bldg. about 105 degrees--- couldn't wait for them to hook up the damn forced air!!!!! HOPE I NEVER have to work down there again!

I grew up in Palm Beach in the 60's. I recall the summer of '69 we had 10 straight days of 100+ degrees, reaching 104 on one of them. Belle Glade hit 107. We were told it wasn't an "official" record because PBIA only got to 102. It did set a record for most days over 100 in a row.
We had a two story 5 br house 2 blocks off the Intracoastal waterway in Lake Worth, with A/C only in the downstairs dining room, which had been converted to my mother's room because of her illness. Our idea of air conditioning at night was to open the windows and let the sea-breeze blow through. We weren't exhibitionists, but everyone slept in the nude at night because of the heat and left doors and windows open to let the breezes blow through. During the day, it was go jump in the canal or in the Intracoastal, or paddle the surfboard across Lake Worth and go surfing.
