Default Hurricane Sandy Victim, 2013-14 Winter Project

I have a very late update on my CSC.
I decided to try and rebuild a particular motor I've had my eye on for a few years when it was a perfectly good motor. A locked up first year 175 60deg OMC over the winter. I always wanted to run a 175 of one of these blocks. This one has the oem higher compression heads. It went under in Hurricane Sandy and sat for about a year.

It really pushes the boat nicely and it's lack of weight and size is much appreciated.

Nice job, I enjoyed the write up and slide show! It's good to see some of these older motors brought back to life especially with the price of the new ones. I'm sure it will last many more years.

Thanks, I'm really happy so far. I've got about 200-225 hours now. It's hard to beat the power to weight & size of these. I swing a 14.5x19 3b Omc SST to 5600rpm with fuel up to the vent and 450lb of people and I can consistently keep it on plane at about 14mph, 15mph with less than 15gals. of fuel.

Hard to beat those 60 degree motors for power/weight! Light is good on these hulls, especially with a bracket! How much setback are you running? You could probably plane even slower with a doelfin/or equivalent and/or trim tabs!

30", no Tabs, I have an old style Stingray and a few small dings in the prop too, lol. I'm not gonna do tabs until I need to do the transom. At the same time I'll shorten, widen and add a platform to the bracket. I'm pretty happy with the numbers now for what it is. I'm not really looking for more up top or down low. I does make wonder how it would be with a 4b and a big set of tabs.
