23 inboard raw water pickup question
Wanted to see what others have done on a potter 23 inboard for the engine raw water pickup. There just is not much room in the bilge for anything. I had to remove my thruhull and put a new one in but ideally I'd like to put the ball valve right on the fitting just in case. Anyone have some good pictures of a 23 inboard pickup?

My inboard has a valve built right in to the base of the fitting similar to this on the starboard side about midship. It supplies raw water to my strainer that is located forward of the engine in the hatch in front of the console.
At some point I am planning on eliminating the stand alone strainer and moving just to the south bay strainer style that mounts on the bottom of the hull. |

Thanks, that's what I was thinking about putting on after I just put s new 1 1/2 thruhull in the other day. My issue is space. The thruhull is not far off of the shaft and there just is no room to put anything down there.

Id Be careful deepsushi doing that Deep sushi, my previous boat was set up like that and any seaweed or debris that makes it past the strainer outside the hull will end up on the suction end of your tranny cooler. Took me better half of a season to figure that out. I also have a ball valve / seacock in about the same place. Be sure to "exorsize" it occasionally to ensure you can close it if need be as well! Hose leak etc!! Mines kinda tough to see in this picture, might have to blow it up but the yellow handle is up, open
