Seacraft Savage 23
I'm new to this whole Seacraft addiction thing and I have a question for the group about a Savage 23. I am in the talks with a guy about buying his savage, it has no motor, pretty much a hull and cap, what do y'all think about the price of 500 dollars for it? I know it'll need a full restoration but i feel like that's a pretty good price. I will post some pictures when I get some more.

Sounds good as long as there is a title and has had no major hull compromises or repairs. Also check to make sure the hull is straight and has not sat full of water to where the hull is deformed. A good, straight 23 is well worth that price but you better be in for the long haul and be willing and able to pump the $$$$ into what it will take to get her where you want it to be.
Too many times I see project boats stay just that due to the owner not considering the cost of restoration. My recommendation is to sit down with a calculator and start pricing out the major costs for getting it done. There are some great buys out there on running SeaCrafts that will put you on the water today for what it will cost just for power and rigging on your project boat. If you are good with the time and costs then prepare yourself for a hugely rewarding experience! We will be here to cheer you on and help in any way we can. Welcome aboard!

Thanks moose for the reply, it looks to be in pretty workable shape. It does have a title as well so I think it might be a pretty good deal. The transporting three hours on an iffy trailer is what has me worried. If I do decide to get it, should I keep the cuddle or redo it into strictly a center console? I need some opinions on that.

That is one of my favorite configurations - a friend had a Savage inboard several years ago and I loved it. I have seriously considered converting my Sceptre into a Savage for a while. I prefer the arrangement over a CC - to me it the best of both configurations even if there is less deck space. I would expect the transom to be shot and likely some soft spots in the deck. Good luck w it if you pull the trigger.

Keep the cabin. Those are a rare breed compared to the CC's.

Well she got bought before I could get there tomorrow, I knew I should've gotten too sick for work. It's probably for the best, a center console is better suited for me.
