Question What to Inspect on a 1984 SC20?

I am looking at purchasing a 1984 Sea Craft center console. What should I be having inspected: Soft spots on the floor, fuel tank, stringer softness, Transom weakness? I am not new to boats, just new to the older Sea Crafts. I really want to own a SC 20, but I don't have the time or money to do a project boat. I'd rather spend my time fishing.

Can someone give me their input of the the critical things to have checked out and in order of priority? Robert

Stringers are all glass, so no worries there. Unlike the Moesly and early Potter models when they never foamed in the tanks, the late 70's and later appear to have at least partially foamed in the tanks, which holds water against the aluminum, so that can be a problem. Any of them can have soft decks if PO wasn't careful about sealing deck penetrations, but some of the later models used plywood instead of balsa core; if plywood gets wet the water quickly spreads in all directions, much faster than in balsa core, so entire deck can get soft quickly.

If you PM me with an email address, I can send you an Excel spreadsheet/checklist I've used when checking out boats for Forum members.
