The latest on paint
Well, I been here 14 years and if I try to figure it out using the search function, it will take another 14.
My young (30yo) fishing buddy just bought his first boat, it's an old 17' Mako (I know, I know). I told him this winter we'll fix it up in my garage, new tank, paint, wire, etc. So, what paint system(s) to use? We plan on doing the cockpit and the hull, below waterline will stay ablative. Here's the criteria: Cost IS a factor, but we want something durable. We can spray it, and I have sprayed some but am no expert, so I want something user friendly for a DIY' er. We DO NOT have supplied air respirators, but will have full face with new canisters (I don't want to take any chances). Will probably go with kiwigrip on the non skid (unless you know something bad). Thanks for the suggestions. |

We have a CSC coupon for the EMC Quantum paint, its about as glossy as it gets and repairable/buff-able. Spraying is not hard, if you have sprayed other topcoats before then this one is not much different. coupon code is "CSC" http://www.gulfstreamcomposites.com/...ings-s/125.htm
