Anyone Mounted a Verado 400R yet?
Selling the 300 ZUKE off my Boat and i am wondering if anyone is has Re-powered with the Verado 400R yet?
The weight is the same as the 300 and 350 Verado and 20 lbs more than the suzuki.... So i don't see weight being an issue.... The question is at what speed will this Hull start Chine walking bad? I know the magic number on the Formula 233 is 58mph to 60mph. I am seriously considering the 400R right now since i have to tear my boat apart and fix a ton of stuff that i thought was already done.... Thoughts or Feedback besides I am Nutz? Robert

I know of a 23 with twin Mercury 300xs' on a bracket doing 80mph

Do I see that correctly? 300kg which equals around 660 pounds....yowza. However they are talking about 1200 hour service intervals......and over 3 times the engine life. And if ya wanna go crazy, you can siamese two engine modules and push 700 hp. Might be a rather tall cowling.

Why do you want to go 58 - 80 mph?
Are you going back into the ocean racing circuit with your SeaCraft? Can you handle your hull safely at that speed if it chine walks? Do you have unlimited funds to afford the fuel & maintenence costs of such a setup? I'm just trying to understand your individual mind think....

My sled had 500 ponies glued to the back of it and it was as pointless as a battery powered paper weight. It has to nearly flat to run these hulls over 30 knots, especially from the helm of a Tsunami. Potter 23s are not race boats and don't fly well but if makes you feel good to drop the hammer in the channel with 400 ponies at wot, go for it. If it was me I go buy a Paramount 21 superfish or a Fountain if I wanted to look cool and go fast. To me putting that much HP on a Tsunami is like dropping a blown hemi in a Vista Cruiser.
