Default Thru Hull Question

I have a 23 Seacraft with a 300 Yamaha outboard. I am considering adding the Garmin GT30 Thru hull sidevu/clearvu transducer to the keel in front of engine.

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/537083#overview

I have heard this may cause cavitation. Has anyone else used one of these side scan transducers and had a cavitation issue????

We do a lot with garmin components, their new transducers are tough to work with ,because of the size.mostly, we use transom mounts and need a shield..wish i had your yami on my boat!!try a b-60 type .its a flush mount thru hull, works great..BUT, you need to check if it will work with side vu, down vu, clear vu, and traditional.I hear you need two ,for about a grand for the pair...make sure an extruding transducer of that size is at least 3 or 4 feet in front of the engine, tough for an outboard set up.or it could cause poor water flow to the engine cooling and prop cavitation
