prop for Suzuki 140 on 1972 20'
Gents-
We are in the process of restoring a 1972 20' and we will be installing a DF140. In looking at performance reports of boats that are similar in weight and size, I am considering the Suzuki 3 blade 14x20 stainless prop. However, would appreciate feedback from owners of other 20's who are running the DF140. Thanks, Ed

I also have a DF140 on a 20'seacraft. I'm running a 14x20 Suzuki SS prop. Great choice. Def the prop you want.

Cruise 25K at 4200, light load 38k at 6100-6200. Burning 5-6 gph at cruise

My brother in law also has a 20 Seacraft and just put a new DF140 on it. Propped it the same and is getting identical performance numbers. The Df140 is a great power choice for this hull.

Ed,
I have run a Powertech PTR 3 Blade 19P SS, and currently running a Solas Amita 4 Blade 13.75X19 Aluminum. Performance is about the same. WOT 6100 34kts, cruise 4400 23kts, fuel burn at cruise 4.5nm/gal. Good hole shot, easily pulls up wakeboarders, and with full trim and full tabs, can stay on plane just under 11kts. I have a '74 20SF with a 2017 Suzuki 140 on a 26" Hermco bracket. I messed around this summer with a 4 blade SS stern lifting prop through Ken at Prop Gods . In the end wasn't thrilled with the difference and it added an idle rpm vibration for some reason that wasn't there with the original 3 blade aluminum Suzuki prop- could just have been a issue with this prop that I tested. Ended up returning the 4 blade prop. I also think my motor might be a tad too low so have raised it to the last highest hole and will take another swing in the spring to get to a SS prop. Ken was good to deal with and offered good feedback and suggestions on options that might work. Attached are the numbers I gathered but wouldn't say these are exactly right as wind, chop conditions were not great on the days I took the numbers. When I am able to get the boat back in the water, will see if these change with the aluminum 3 blade that the dealer provided with the motor.

Headhunter I have a 20 ma with a new df140 and a Suzuki ss 3 blade 14x20 like you and I've only been able to to get 37 mph on gps with light load. I was thinking about moving the motor to the last hole is that where yours is mounted.

I redid my transom and it isn't stock height anymore so we would differ on how our pin position relates to motor depth in the water. I'm currently in the middle pin position. I don't see any negatives(besides the work) to raising yours up another pin . If it's too high, it should be obvious and easily lowered back down.
