1988 18' SeaCraft for sale EDIT: Sorry, I have the wrong date. My eyes are failing me. It's an 85, not an 88.
the hull and floors are solid, and everything works as it should. I just ran all new tinned sheathed wire throughout the boat, and installed led lights under the gunnel. I'm currently installing a 40 gallon aluminum epoxy coated gas tank this week, nearly complete. Then I have to screw down the center console, and connect the wiring. All work will be completed before the sale. I added all new waterproof manual reset breakers under the console and a second at the transom, 3 way battery switch, a brand new fuse box and replaced two of the breaker switches, they all work. The motor is a 2002 Yamaha 115 4 stroke with perfect compression. I've owned this boat for 5 years, had it 40 miles offshore many times. It's never let me down. Last spring I replaced all filters and put brand new injectors in it. It pushes the boat about 37 mph fully loaded with two big guys on board. I've hit 42 in optimal condition by myself. I never intended to sell this boat, it's the perfect boat for single handed use, and I can safely take it offshore. I've been a boater my whole life, sold SeaCrafts for Bass Pro years ago, and was a customer service supervisor in their Marine division. I got to know the boats thoroughly, taking customers for test rides in all their various sizes, and been in love with them ever since. But, then my oldest son had our first grandchild 4 years ago, then my youngest son had one, then they both had a second, and then my middle son had our 5th grandchild last March. I need a bigger boat, got one you'd like to trade? Includes: Hydraulic steering Hummingbird 9 DI with brand new through hull transducer Ray marine dragonfly 7 chirp with transom mounted transducer Ship to shore radio SS bimini top 200' of new rope, with danforth anchor and chain New Bronze through hull water pickup installed for future raw water wash-down Newly Rebuilt Aluminum Float On trailer ***Note: the pictures show my old trailer, also for sale separately. And I know, it needs a bath ![]() Issues: The trim has developed a small leak if you store the motor up, without engaging the lock. The seals on the rams are new, and the trim pump is new. The leak is coming from the tiny o rings under the trim motor mounting block - and difficult to get to because of a Yamaha design flaw, the bolts corrode and seize. I'm including a second used trim unit for rebuilding, but I've been running it like this for three years without issue. I installed a brand new transom lite, and wiring, but it has issues and I haven't traced it down yet. The base and pole don't seem to mesh. I am going to troubleshoot it after I reinstall the console. The gel coat and guard rail has many scratches / spider webbing, as to be expected on a 25+ year old boat. The Todd cooler seat ice chest has several cracks from being dropped but still keeps ice. It is currently uninstalled. I'll add photos later today. The boat is located in Clay County, about 30 miles south of Jacksonville Florida. Asking $10,000obo One last note, I only have this for sale on this sight, so far. I want it to go to a good home, and have a lot of respect for it's members. I've lurked here for many years, rarely posting. I'm in no hurry to sell, and all repairs I'm doing are done as if I'm keeping it, the right way, although I am negotiable on the price, and willing to trade. After completing the work I've listed I plan to continue work on the boat, with floor and gunnel Alexseal non skid, and replace the flip flop cooler seat with a leaning post. I also have all new wash-down kit, and macerator pump for the fish-box to install in a few weeks if it doesn't sell. If it doesn't sell before I add these things, the price will go up. Trades: I'm not interested in a project. Must be water ready. I'm looking for a 20'-23' with cuddy. I have my eye on an old restored 20' shamrock predator cuddy. I like the classics. Let me know if you have something similar you'd like to trade. Best way to reach me is email [email protected] Payed for ad with paypal -> [email protected] Transaction ID: 9CE11451DU982743X |

About the gas tank.
The previous owner put a brand new tank in it, but it was only 17 gallons. I aded a valve near the water separator with a second quick connect fuel line and bulb and was carrying extra gas offshore that I could quickly switch to. I found a used tank in excellent condition, sanded it with 80 grit, then wet sanded it with 120 grit, thoroughly cleaned degreased and dried it, etched and primed it, tipped all the edges and corners with Heavy Solids Epoxy twice, then two final coats of HS Epoxy. The Sender is a brand new Mueller. The Wiring I'm using is Lawrence marine sheathed tinned wire. There's never been a fuel issue, except for the size. 40 gallons on this will run off shore and troll all day. And you still have the back up splash proof quick connect for a remote tank. |

About the Fuel Tank cover.
When I removed the tank lid I noticed the balsa core was beginning to delaminate. I knew that if the floor ever developed a soft spot it would be the tank lid, where the pilot stands all day. I removed all the old core down to the lid skin, Re-cored it, sandwiching it with closed cell foam board and three layers of glass, and marine epoxy resin. I also modified it to accommodate the new fuel fill tube with better access to the sender/fuel lines, and added backer plates to properly bolt down the battery trays. Edit: I did not end up using a backer plates for battery trays. There's not enough room between the lid and the tank and I didn't want it rubbing. It's rock solid and lite. I should have at least dusted it before pics, I just finished initial sanding ![]() Anyway, I hope to finish sanding/faring everything up and paint the cover, then finish the tank install this weekend. If I get super motivated I may finish reinstalling the console and hookup the wiring also. *::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::* Updated 07-14-20 I've finished the tank cover. Updated pics below... The non skid area detail is in the close up pic. It's hard to see in the other two new pics. |

The Trailer,
Everything except the frame is new, and never been in the water, including the fenders, tires, wheels, bearing, hubs, torsion axle, 5,000lb coupler, jack stand and 3"x3"x1/4" galvanized tongue. The frame is a 6" aluminum I-beam. I have a brand new 2,500lb winch on order that should be here by Wed. I'll be installing new bunks and taking it to the local Trailer shop to transfer and adjust the boat to trailer this week, if all goes as planned. Note, the fenders are just laying on the tires, and will be installed after the new Bunks. I'm debating on the bunks. Do I use 4x6 cypress at $80 from the local saw mill, or Pressure treated 4x6 at $25 from the big box store? I'm leaning Pressure treated, but I'm guessing if your a buyer, Cypress is the way to go. Opinion? Updating progress, I finished the bunks. The trailer is done except the fenders. They're just laying on the tires for the pics. I'll install those after I swap the boat onto it. The bunks are pressure treated and thru bolted with Stainless hardware. |

I've heard of floating aluminum trailers before, How long were your bunks?
These bunks will be 6'. Just looked up the weight. Freshly Treated Pine is about 73lb per board foot, Cypress is about 50, and Juniper about 42, for non kiln dried wood. I think I'll go with treated yellow pine. |

Just FYI -- I had BIG (4"x12"x8') cypress bunks on an aluminum trailer years ago, it floated (when the wood was dry) and was a PITA to retrieve my boat. Aluminum wheels didn't help either.

This is truly a thing that happens.
![]() My hitchhiker trailer floats very nicely with HUGE PT bunks and makes retrieving my 23' Sceptre very uh, "interesting". Don't know what the bunks were originally. Trailer came to me with new 4"x6" x 6' long bunks when I got it. Probably going to bolt some lead ingots to the outboard rails (eventually...).
