Hello, found a soft spot on the casting deck of my 1973 20sf. Its on the starboard side of the forward anchor locker. Any suggestions on repair? Deck was cut out years ago and replaced with penske board, so I dont want tamper with that. Maybe cut the whole thing off and recore from the bottom and reinstall?? Any suggestions would help, thank you.

How bad is it? Possible to cut out the outer skin, replace the core (keep the inner skin) and fiberglass over?

jwclb, did you get this project done and if so what method did you use? I'm curious because I have a similar soft spot on my boat. I eventually want to redo the entire deck but I'm looking for options to hold off on that large endeavor. Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Tmala, it's not that bad. Yes, cutting out the bad and replacing core and leave bottom glass is what I was thinking too.
Seadog I havent gotten to it yet. I did the deck in 2005 with composite, I would recommend no wood. |
