Forward seating backrest
Spring has sprung and now I’m onto another project to make my wife a little more comfortable on the boat which mean more time for me on the boat. I found this V-Lock unit and want to use it as a mount to add a back rest for someone to sit on the bow. Similar to what you see on a lot of the Key West and other newer bots on the market. My question is how much stretch is there in the step up on the bow of an 86 20SF. I’m looking to mount this with 4 screws and attach a back rest cushion. I was thinking 4- 1 inch screws but I want to know if there is enough support here for this. You can see in the second photo my idea. Any thoughts would be great.

That area on my 1073 23 cc was about 1/4” thick. Very difficult or impossible to get behind from what I remember without access plates? I had to replace the damaged front in deck storage box and make a new one to drop in .That allowed me access to install and glass in a back up plate for my hinges

I personally would be concerned mounting with screws ( not bolts with nuts) and no backing plate. Lot of multiplied load if someone is leaning on this bouncing accross the waves- sorry Seacraft so bouncing may be harsh��....
