Default Taking off sceptre/tsunami windshield

Happy thanksgiving all!

I’m in the process of restoring a 78 sceptre. I see the windshield through bolts into the cabin and have taken off the nuts. What’s next in terms of trying to get the windshield off the hull? Do the panes come out then more screws underneath? I’m trying not to damage the windshield. Any help or tips appreciated!

You still have to get the nuts off the side panels from under the gunnels. You have quite a project ahead of you but if done right they come out great. Nothing cheap about though.

If it’s like my Seafari. You have a row of nuts in cabin- you said you got out.
Then there’s a row of nuts under each gunnel like moose said.

A deep well bit with a long extension got them for me. Several of my bolts needed replaced. T bolts are perfect. I bought some off Amazon- woodworkers use these like crazy. Then put washers and nylon lock nuts on them.
My windshield had adhesive (silicone?) under each piece that waterproofed and held them.
The pieces where they came together were not easy to come apart. I don’t have a pic but the middle is curved on each edge and the edge triangles have a groove.

I can’t recall if I took my sides off first or the middle. You will need 1-2 helpers. Some putty knives, pry bars and rubber mallets.

Like moose said getting them out is the cheap part. It costs $$$$-plexiglass, gasket material, and reinstall.

Good luck! And you’ll know what you’re thankful for next thanksgiving.

Only the front 4 on my Seafari are tempered glass.

The 2 side triangles and portlights were/are plexiglass.
The tempered glass cleaned right up and looked brand new and reused it. Can’t say the same for all the plexiglass. Cloudy and cracked.

Thanks for the help all! I didn't want to force anything and risk breaking. Now that I got a plan it's time to attack!
