18 Seacraft 150 VMax question
I’m going to look at a 1987 18 Seacraft that has a 2002 Yamaha 150 VMax 2 Stroke. Specs say that the VMax weighs 418 pounds. Is that engine too heavy for the hull? Transom looks to be original 20”. I’d be looking to keep on a mooring. Any idea of what mpg I would be getting at cruise. I’ve read that the vmax is a bit thirsty but a very solid engine. Thoughts?

If the transom is wood and original, that's a bit heavy. (I would guess there's some water in it). I replaced the transom and deck with a Coosa equivalent to reduce weight and hung a 397 lb. Zuki and she sits in the water just like she did new with a 300 lb. 2-stroke. I don't know about the performance of those motors.

I looked at the boat last week. It was a little rougher than I wanted to take on so I passed on the purchase. Thanks for the input.
